Grilled Peaches are so easy and delicious!
If you haven’t enjoyed grilled peaches, you are missing out. Eating a grilled peach reminds me of Grandma’s home-made peach jam. The natural sugars in the peach caramelize on the grill, bringing natural sweet magic to any dish. Additionally, any peach can be turned into a flavorful treat by grilling it.
The peach below was grilled before becoming the accompaniment to this amazing deconstructed salad of butter leaf lettuce, whole grain bulgar, steamed broccoli and grilled Honey Mustard Chicken. If you are looking for a new dinner idea, try adding this simple combination to your dinner repertoire.
And there are countless ways to enjoy these delicious and jammy gems, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. They are a versatile ingredient in recipes ranging from savory dishes like grilled chicken salads to sweet treats like cobblers or parfaits. Whether you prefer them as a standalone delight, or topped with yogurt, ice cream or pudding.
Grilled Peaches Unleash their magic Morning, Noon and Night!
There are so many ways to use these delicious and jammy gems throughout the day. Consider starting your morning with grilled peach yogurt parfaits. Or allow these grilled gems to bring their natural sweetness to your morning oatmeal, pancakes or waffles.
This versatile ingredient brings new flavor to savory dishes like grilled chicken, steaks, pork and salads. Try enjoying them sliced in salads or on sandwiches for lunch. Also grilled peaches make delicious appetizers. For instance, they make a wonderful summertime bruschetta. For a simple and delicious appetizer, arrange chopped peaches over fresh burrata cheese. Serve alongside toasted slices of french bread for a stunning dish to serve your guests.
Grilled peaches are not only delicious on their own but also make for wonderful desserts. For a simple yet impressive treat, place a grilled peach half in a decorative bowl. Top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of salted caramel sauce. Voila! It’s not just a delicious dessert; it’s also wonderfully easy to prepare. My favorite part? It’s the perfect way to conclude a satisfying meal.
Additionally, grilled peaches make flavorful toppings to cheesecakes or turned into beautiful pudding or ice cream parfaits. Let’s not forget to add the Edible Sand for texture and crunch.
The Peaches
Any type of peach will work well for grilling. Of course, sweet juicy peaches will grill up wonderfully. But I have found that those peaches that are lacking in flavor and texture, improve and become more edible by grilling them.
Picking the Peach for Occassion
The trick is to use a firmer peach, before it begins to soften. The ideal peach is one that just barely gives to the pressure of your thumb at the stem.
If the peaches you choose are over-ripe, they can still be grilled, but they may not hold their shape well. However, these softer peaches are perfect for toppings on pancakes, oatmeal, and other dishes. They also excel as toppings on cheesecakes, in parfaits, or even as a fresh jam for your morning toast. The rich flavor and natural sweetness of these ripe peaches simply can’t be replicated in store-bought, sugar-free jams.
Grilled Peaches: The How To
The process is simple to create these delightful gems. Start by cutting the peach from the stem to the bottom and continuing back up the opposite side back to the stem. Following the natural seam of the peach makes this easy. Next, gently twist the two cut halves in opposite directions of each other. One half of the cut peach should pull clean away from the pit. The remaining half will still have the pit intact. Remove the pit by gently prying away from the flesh. Or run the tip of a paring knife gently around the pit and pop it out.
After halving and pitting the peach, dress each peach half with one or two drops of olive oil and rub the two halves together. Sprinkle with a pinch of kosher salt. They are ready to place on your pre-heated grill. In just 7-8 minutes, the peaches are ready to cool and be enjoyed! Alternatively, the peaches may be caramelized in a preheated cast-iron skillet on the stove top. Just be sure to place a few drops of oil in the skillet to help prevent sticking.
Enjoying the bounty!
The grilled peaches can be diced or sliced and served immediately. Serve them as side dish or add them to a salad. Use these sweet peaches as a sugar-free topping for your pancakes, breakfast bowl, oatmeal or toast. Additionally, they can be made in advance and saved for later. If I am not using them right away, I store them in an air-tight container in the refrigerator. The juices from the peaches will ooze out and thicken, creating a delicious sauce that can be poured over your ice cream, or quinoa bowl. It’s fabulous!
Turn your peaches into an appetizer!
In addition to making delicious toppings, these peaches make a delicious appetizer. Try this simple Burrata and Grilled Peach Appetizer. Serve with crostata, flatbread or your favorite crackers. This delicious appetizer is an easy dish to make for a large crowd. Additionally, this appetizer pairs nicely with Prosecco.
And don’t forget that grilled peaches will make a delicious pizza topping too! One of my favorite combinations is my Buffalo Peach Pizza. This pizza is topped with buffalo chicken, peaches, celery and gouda cheese.
